Me

Roberta Walker is not my real name - I liked the idea of a pen name!  At the beginning of October 2008, a date that marked the start of a year long mid-life crisis of sorts, I sat down and wrote a full length manuscript - my first ever.

But when I read it through, it made no sense!

In January, 2010, I signed up for Holly Lisle's How To Revise Your Novel and learned...A LOT.  My book was broken.

In April, 2010, the recession hit and I lost my day job, leaving me to pursue this writing thing...At least until Unemployment Insurance runs out!

In January, 2011 I completed my third full rewrite of Reset (cutting an additional 20K words).

Is it still broken?  We'll see.  Querying is on the agenda in 2011!

Someday, I might link my real identity and my pseudonym together.  For now, I like the idea of pursuing this dream in relative peace and dread the "OMG, can I read it?" from family members and friends.

If a book I write makes it into print... Well, you'll be the first to know!

Other stuff I do:

Raise and train working sheepdogs.

Care for sheep (goes without saying if you figure in the above), chickens and turkeys on our little farm.

Eat two breakfasts every day.  Second Breakfast IS the most important meal of the day!

Clean up after my husband cooks - he is a great chef, aspiring to all your favorites on the Food Network.  Unfortunately, like those TV chefs, he makes a GINORMOUS mess.  (It's worth it though!)

Read lots and lots....Non Fiction (dogs, farming, animals mostly), YA (LOVE teen voice and angsty romance of the non smutty variety), Historical Romances, Sci Fi and Fantasy... I'll try pretty much anything.

Drool over Damon on the Vampire Diaries.  I do that a lot, actually, not just on Thursdays.  All vampires should be so witty!
